Range Rover has offered the first public glimpse of the upcoming Range Rover Sport Electric, previewing the all-electric performance SUV at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed ahead of its full reveal later this year.
While technical specifications remain under wraps, Land Rover says the new model will be the most dynamic and fastest Range Rover Sport ever produced, using the instant torque of an electric powertrain to further enhance the SUV's sporting character.
The preview follows the debut of the larger Range Rover Electric and marks another step in the brand's transition towards electrification. Once launched, the Sport Electric will sit alongside the existing petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid variants, giving buyers a broader range of powertrain options rather than replacing conventional engines outright.
At Goodwood, Range Rover demonstrated prototype vehicles on the famous hillclimb and surrounding circuit, drawing on the Sport's history of headline-grabbing engineering feats, including its ascent of China's Heaven's Gate and Iceland's Karahnjukar dam spillway.
Although Land Rover has yet to release performance figures, it claims the Sport Electric will feature a newly developed chassis tune, increased power and torque, and a bespoke sound experience designed to complement the silent nature of electric propulsion. The company says the aim is to preserve the engaging driving experience that has distinguished the Range Rover Sport since its introduction.
The arrival of the Range Rover Sport Electric also reflects a broader shift across the luxury performance SUV segment, with brands increasingly turning to electric power to deliver stronger acceleration and improved refinement without sacrificing everyday usability.
Full specifications, performance figures and Australian availability are expected to be announced later in 2026.
