The bespoke luxury sedan will go under the hammer in New York in November, with proceeds supporting the LeBron James Family Foundation’s education and community programs.
A personalised Mercedes-Maybach S680 created in collaboration with basketball star LeBron James will be auctioned in New York next month to raise funds for his charitable foundation.
The car is a near-identical twin of the Maybach S-Class James commissioned for his own collection, developed through Mercedes-Benz’s MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure personalisation programme. It will be offered by Gooding Christie’s at Retromobile New York, running from 19 to 22 November.
The S680 features a MANUFAKTUR-exclusive light ivory exterior and a blue 'Stormy Weather' Nappa leather interior with porcelain contrast stitching. James’ signature appears on the cushions, floor mats and headrests, while a bespoke badge bearing his personal logo replaces the traditional V12 emblem. A separate detail references the coordinates of his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
Proceeds will benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation and its I PROMISE programme, which supports children and families in the Akron area through education, mentoring and services spanning housing, healthcare and employment.
The vehicle will be displayed at Mercedes-Benz Manhattan from 9 to 16 November before moving to the Javits Center, where it will be exhibited during Retromobile New York on 19 and 20 November.
The project also highlights Mercedes-Benz’s MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure service, which allows customers to work directly with specialists on highly personalised finishes, materials and design details.
Mercedes-Benz has not announced an estimate or expected sale price for the auction vehicle.
