BMW M will mark the Nurburgring’s 100th anniversary with a limited-run special edition range, with just 16 vehicles allocated to Australia.
The '100 Jahre Nurburgring' editions will be offered across four models: the M2 xDrive, M3 Competition Sedan M xDrive, M4 Competition Coupe M xDrive and M5 Sedan. Australian pricing starts at $155,800, with initial deliveries expected in the second quarter of 2027.
Each vehicle will be available in one of two finishes: BMW Individual Nurburgring Green, developed specifically for the anniversary, or Black Sapphire metallic. Eight cars will be finished in each colour.
The editions receive distinctive exterior treatments including anniversary roof graphics, '100' insignia, 'Nurburgring since 1927' lettering and silhouettes of the circuit. Model-specific details extend to the wheels, interior trim and upholstery, with white and green accents featuring throughout.
The Nurburgring has been an important part of BMW’s performance development for decades. Its 20.832km Nordschleife circuit has served as a testing ground since the 1960s, while BMW’s motorsport history at the venue includes victory in the inaugural Nurburgring 24-hour race in 1970.
The Australian allocation comprises six M2s, four M3s, four M4s and just two M5s.
The M2 xDrive edition is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six producing 353kW and 600Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. It claims a 0-100km/h time of 3.7 seconds and is priced from $155,800.
The M3 Competition Sedan and M4 Competition Coupe both use a higher-output version of the 3.0-litre turbocharged six, producing 390kW and 650Nm. Both claim a 3.5-second 0-100km/h time, with prices set at $210,800 and $215,800 respectively.
At the top of the range, the M5 combines a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor in its M HYBRID powertrain. Total system outputs are 535kW and 1,000Nm, enabling a claimed 0-100km/h time of 3.5 seconds. The M5 edition is priced at $280,800, with only two examples coming to Australia.
Production of the M3, M4 and M5 editions is scheduled to begin in January 2027, followed by the M2 in March. All prices include GST and luxury car tax but exclude on-road costs.
