Ferrari CZ26: The SF90 Stradale Gets a Radical Makeover

Ferrari’s latest bespoke creation keeps the SF90’s technical foundations but wraps them in an entirely new body

Ferrari has taken the familiar foundations of the SF90 Stradale and turned them into something considerably more radical with the one-off CZ26.

Created through Ferrari's Special Projects programme for a US client, the CZ26 was designed by Ferrari's Centro Stile under Flavio Manzoni. While its technical specifications remain those of the SF90 Stradale, almost everything visible has been reinterpreted, producing a dramatically different take on Ferrari's high-performance berlinetta.

The most striking change is the shape. Rather than following the flowing, sculptural forms traditionally associated with Ferrari, the CZ26 adopts a distinctly horizontal design with a low, two-box silhouette. Its central body is almost capsule-like, surrounded by pronounced wheel-arch forms that give the car a broad, planted stance.

At the front, a full-width grille incorporates the lighting, cooling intakes and various sensors into a single technical-looking element. Ultra-slim lights and a pronounced vertical leading edge give the nose a particularly assertive appearance.

The rear takes an equally unconventional approach, with a sharply truncated tail, cantilevered tail-lights and a broad horizontal diffuser. A large upper spoiler adds to the visual drama while contributing to the car's aerodynamic performance.

And unlike many one-off Ferraris that focus primarily on exterior personalisation, the CZ26 represents a much more comprehensive redesign. Ferrari says the cooling system, airflow management, underbody and vortex-generator system have all been reworked, while dedicated air curtains at the front help control airflow around the wheels. The rear diffuser and spoiler were also developed to increase downforce without compromising aerodynamic efficiency.

The design draws inspiration from Italian industrial design of the 1970s, but filters those influences through a decidedly modern lens. The result is a Ferrari that looks less like a conventional evolution of an existing model and more like a concept car that has escaped into production.

Inside, the same minimalist technical theme continues, with black technical fabric, satin and gloss carbon-fibre finishes and red detailing. Bespoke additive-manufactured seat inserts and CZ26 embroidery reinforce its one-off status.

The exterior is finished in Argento Veloce, a liquid-effect silver, contrasted with Rosso Lampante accents and exposed carbon-fibre elements. Bespoke wheels and natural-finish titanium exhaust outlets complete the specification.

Importantly, however, the CZ26 isn't a new Ferrari underneath its dramatic bodywork. Ferrari has retained the SF90 Stradale's technical specification, meaning the real significance of the project lies in its design and aerodynamic reinterpretation rather than an increase in outright performance.

That makes the CZ26 an interesting example of what Ferrari's Special Projects programme can produce when the usual constraints of a production model are removed. It isn't simply a more expensive SF90 with a few bespoke details; it is a completely new visual interpretation of Ferrari's flagship hybrid supercar architecture.

For its unnamed owner, that's presumably the point. With Ferrari building an increasingly broad range of bespoke cars for individual clients, the CZ26 offers a glimpse of just how far the company's design language can be pushed when exclusivity matters as much as performance.
